Governor Greg Abbott has made the decision to reappoint Alejandro G. "Alex" Meade, III and Robert C. "Robie" Vaughn to the Texas Transportation Commission. Their newly extended terms will conclude on February 1, 2031. The Commission plays a vital role in overseeing the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and is tasked with responsibilities such as shaping policy regarding the state's highway system, formulating a statewide transportation plan, fostering public transportation development, and establishing operational rules for TxDOT.
Meade, residing in Mission, currently holds the position of executive vice president at Texas Regional Bank. His past roles include serving as the city manager for the City of Pharr and as CEO of the Mission Economic Development Corporation. He has been part of the Texas State Technical College System board of regents as well as the Texas Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. His credentials include certification as an economic development finance professional by the National Development Council and he is a certified public manager under the National Certified Public Manager Consortium. He is a Texas Lyceum alumnus and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics from St. Edward’s University, a Master of Business Administration from The University of Texas at Brownsville, and a Master of Public Administration from UT Pan American.
Vaughn, based in Dallas, is the proprietor of Vaughn Capital Partners, LLC and is involved in multiple energy and real estate investment entities. His previous includes being the chairman of the TexNet Technical Advisory Committee and membership with the UT System Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee and UT McDonald Observatory and Department of Astronomy Board of Visitors. Vaughn is also a life member of the UT Austin Development Board and the Longhorn Foundation Advisory Council. He sits on the Dorchester Minerals, L.P. Board of Managers, the Culver Educational Foundation Board of Trustees, and the Perot Museum of Nature and Science Board of Directors. Vaughn completed his Bachelor of Business Administration at UT Austin.
These appointments await confirmation by the Senate.
