The City of Brownwood has been recognized as a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community by Travel Texas, marking the inaugural year of this certification program. Governor Greg Abbott praised Brownwood for its efforts in using tourism as an economic growth strategy and its commitment to creating local jobs while attracting visitors both nationally and internationally.

"Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas," stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized the significant impact travelers have on the state's economy, generating over $193 billion annually and supporting 1.3 million jobs statewide. Abbott encouraged other communities to apply for the certification to boost local tourism and job creation.

Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell highlighted Brownwood's unique attractions, saying, "In Brownwood, visitors find a destination where Texas flavors, outdoor adventure, and small-town appeal come together." Fennell noted that the city's designation acknowledges its dedication to providing a welcoming experience for visitors.

Senator Phil King expressed pride in Brownwood's recognition: "Brownwood is a welcoming city that offers plenty of outdoor activities and a flourishing downtown district." Representative David Spiller also commended the city, noting that the designation would enhance its charm and economic growth.

Mayor Stephen E. Haynes invited travelers to explore Brownwood's offerings, stating, "From our rich history to our genuine hospitality, we invite travelers to discover all that makes Brownwood feel like home."
