Governor Greg Abbott has renewed the border security disaster proclamation initially issued on May 31, 2021. This action was taken to address the ongoing and imminent threat posed by individuals unlawfully crossing the Texas-Mexico border, affecting various Texas counties and state agencies.

The original proclamation has been amended several times to modify the list of affected counties and maintain a state of disaster for these areas. Governor Abbott stated, "the certified conditions continue to exist and pose an ongoing and imminent threat of disaster as set forth in the prior proclamations."

The renewed proclamation declares a disaster for multiple counties including Aransas, Atascosa, Bee, Brewster, Brooks, Caldwell, Calhoun, Cameron, Chambers, Coleman, Colorado, Crane, Crockett, Culberson, DeWitt, Dimmit, Duval, Edwards, El Paso among others. All previous orders and authorizations from the initial May 31 proclamation remain in effect.

In accordance with statutory requirements, copies of this renewal will be filed with relevant authorities. Governor Abbott signed the document on March 23rd in Austin.

Jane Nelson attested to this action as Secretary of State.
