Governor Abbott visited St. Timothy Christian Academy in Plano, where he engaged with students with special needs, their parents, and educators. During his visit, he emphasized the significance of school choice for Texas families.

"The job of the state is to empower parents," Governor Abbott stated. He highlighted that institutions like St. Timothy offer alternative education pathways tailored to individual student needs, whether they have special requirements or need a different learning environment. "Passing school choice in the state of Texas will empower generations of parents to be able to choose the education pathway that truly is best for their child."

Governor Abbott was accompanied by Lee Phegley, President of the STCA Board of Directors, as well as educators and students during a media availability session. He committed to making Texas a leading state in educating students through a universal school choice program. He also expressed gratitude towards the Texas House of Representatives for supporting Texas families by having enough votes to pass House Bill 3 on school choice after the Senate passed its version in Senate Bill 2.

Before addressing the media, Governor Abbott toured St. Timothy Christian Academy and interacted with students, parents, and educators. He encouraged students at St. Timothy by sharing his personal story about overcoming obstacles following an accident that left him wheelchair-bound.

St. Timothy Christian Academy offers educational support to families with children who have learning differences from kindergarten through 12th grade.
