Texas has emerged as a leader in job creation, according to the latest employment data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Governor Greg Abbott highlighted the state's success, noting that Texas added more new jobs over the past year than any other state.

"Texas is America’s jobs engine, adding more new jobs in the last year than any other state," said Governor Abbott. He attributed this growth to Texas' skilled workforce and business-friendly environment, which attract businesses from various industries globally. The governor also mentioned initiatives like the Governor's Small Business Freedom Council and emphasized career training as a legislative priority.

In January alone, Texas added 27,900 nonfarm jobs. From January 2024 to January 2025, it recorded an increase of 187,700 nonfarm jobs—figures that surpass those of all other states.

Governor Abbott also announced that Texas set new records for total jobs, employment numbers, and labor force size. Earlier this month, he celebrated Texas winning the Governor's Cup for the 13th consecutive year as the top state for job-creating business locations and expansions.
