Texas has set new records in employment, with the state achieving unprecedented numbers in total jobs, the number of Texans employed, and the size of its labor force. This information comes from January 2025 employment data released by the Texas Workforce Commission.

Governor Greg Abbott expressed pride in these achievements, stating: “Hardworking Texans drive America’s most dynamic economy. And with more Texans working than ever before in the history of our great state, we continue to dominate the nation for business expansion."

The January data highlights several milestones for Texas:

- The state's labor force reached a historic high of 15,750,800.

- The number of working Texans, including those self-employed, also hit a record at 15,103,300.

- Total nonfarm jobs increased to 14,236,400 after an addition of 27,900 jobs in January alone.

- Over a year-long period from January 2024 to January 2025, Texas added a total of 187,700 nonfarm jobs.

Governor Abbott recently celebrated Texas's achievement of winning its 13th consecutive Governor's Cup as the top state for job-creating business location and expansion projects. He also unveiled a five-year statewide economic development strategic plan aimed at furthering economic growth and job creation across Texas.

Abbott emphasized that "with the Best Business Climate and the strongest workforce in America," Texas continues to attract industry leaders seeking growth opportunities. He credited this success to efforts such as reducing bureaucratic hurdles and investing strategically in infrastructure and education.
