Governor Abbott reappoints six members to Texas School Safety Center Board

Governor Greg Abbott has announced the reappointment of six individuals to the Texas School Safety Center Board. The terms for these appointees will expire on February 1, 2027. This board is responsible for advising the Governor, legislature, State Board of Education, and Texas Education Agency on matters related to school safety and security.

The appointees include Nidia De La Cerda from Corpus Christi, who serves as an assistant principal at Tuloso-Midway Independent School District. She is affiliated with the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association and volunteers with the Nueces County Veterans Service Office Volunteer Corps.

Robert “Rob” McClelland from Dripping Springs holds the position of director of Business Development at BPI Bauerle Partners Inc and is a member of Dripping Springs ISD's school board. His military service includes a 12-year tenure in the United States Army, where he earned several commendations.

James Mosley from Borger is currently serving as a judge in the 316th District Court. He is involved with several legal associations and community organizations, including Boy Scouts troops and veterans groups.

Noe E. Perez of Laguna Vista works as a social studies teacher at Los Fresnos High School within the Los Fresnos Consolidated ISD. He has an academic background in mathematics, history, government, and sociology.

Michael Slaughter from Wylie functions as an assistant principal at Princeton High School while also being an ordained minister. His professional affiliations include multiple educational associations.

Lastly, Jill Tate from Colleyville has experience as a project manager and small business owner. She actively participates in community service through various local organizations.

These appointments await confirmation by the Senate.
