Governor Greg Abbott and First Lady Cecilia Abbott hosted the Taoiseach of Ireland, Micheál Martin, and his wife, Mary Martin, at the Governor’s Mansion in Austin. The meeting focused on enhancing the economic relationship between Texas and Ireland.

The discussions covered potential partnerships in key sectors such as energy, water, and technology. Governor Abbott emphasized Texas’ business-friendly environment and regulatory policies that attract global companies to operate in the state.

Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) were also a topic of conversation. Governor Abbott highlighted Texas’ leadership in energy production, wind-powered generation, and utility-scale solar. He noted that these strengths make Texas an attractive destination for investments from AI leaders, semiconductor manufacturers, and tech innovators worldwide.

The talks included exploring how Texas' comprehensive energy strategy could support Ireland's energy requirements. Governor Abbott pointed out Texas' position as a leading exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration between Texas and Ireland in the energy sector.
