Governor Greg Abbott has announced a $2 million grant from the Texas Semiconductor Innovation Fund (TSIF) to KoMiCo Technology, Inc. for its facility in Round Rock. This expansion is anticipated to create 70 new jobs and generate $36 million in capital investment.
"Texas is leading the American resurgence in semiconductor manufacturing and making strategic investments to secure critical domestic supply chains," said Governor Abbott. "KoMiCo’s $36 million investment to expand their clean room capacity and production lines in Round Rock supports increased chip production right here in Texas."
KoMiCo, a subsidiary of KoMiCo Ltd., specializes in parts cleaning and coating services for the semiconductor industry. The company plans to increase its facility by over 40,000 square feet, enhancing its clean room capacity and production lines for contamination removal and coatings application crucial for wafer manufacturing tools.
“KoMiCo is profoundly grateful to the State of Texas for their generous grant supporting the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain,” stated KoMiCo USA CEO Sung Soo Jang. “This investment not only reinforces our industry but also strengthens the technological fabric of our nation."
Senator Sarah Eckhardt expressed her support, stating, “I’m thrilled about this good investment into good jobs helping manufacture good technology.”
The TSIF was established under the Texas CHIPS Act signed by Governor Abbott in 2023. It aims to maintain Texas' leadership in semiconductor research, design, and manufacturing through programs administered by the Texas CHIPS Office within the Governor’s Economic Development & Tourism Office.
