Abbott appoints members to Upper Guadalupe River Authority board

Governor Greg Abbott has made appointments to the Upper Guadalupe River Authority, with terms expiring on February 1, 2029. The appointees include Dick Eastland and Jeanne Stacy, who have been reappointed, and new appointees Jonathan Letz and Weir Labatt. The River Authority is tasked with managing the control, storage, preservation, and distribution of water from the Upper Guadalupe River and its tributaries.

Dick Eastland from Hunt is the president of Camp Mystic Incorporated. He has previously served as president of the Camping Association for Mutual Progress and volunteers with the Kerrville Rotary Club. His past roles include being a member of the Hunt Independent School District Board and coaching for West Kerr County Little League and Little Dribblers. Eastland holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from The University of Texas at Austin.

Jeanne Stacy, based in Ingram, serves as director of Camp Waldemar in Hunt. She is affiliated with both the American Camp Association and the Society for Human Resource Management. Additionally, she has served as president of the Camping Association for Mutual Progress. Stacy graduated with a bachelor's degree from Brown University.

Jonathan Letz from Comfort owns Cherry Creek Ranch, The Garden Haus, and Southwest Turf and Irrigation. He is also president of the Texas Wildlife Association, director at Grace Christian Academy, and vice president of Kerr Economic Development Corporation. Letz earned a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Bachelor in Petroleum Land Management from UT Austin.

Weir Labatt resides in Kerrville and is retired from Labatt Company. A veteran who was honorably discharged from the United States Army, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration from UT Austin.

These appointments await confirmation by the Senate.
