Governor Greg Abbott has unveiled a comprehensive five-year economic development strategic plan aimed at fostering economic growth and job creation throughout Texas. The plan serves as a roadmap for continued expansion, leveraging the state's position as a leader in population growth, technology, and innovation.

"Texas is a national leader in population growth, job creation, technology and innovation, and overall economic expansion," stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized that the state's favorable business environment attracts entrepreneurs due to low taxes and a skilled workforce. "With this statewide economic development strategic plan, we will cement Texas as a global economic powerhouse."

Adriana Cruz, Executive Director of Texas Economic Development & Tourism, highlighted the collaborative nature of the initiative: "Economic development in Texas is a team sport." She noted that the plan reflects Governor Abbott's leadership by creating an environment conducive to community-led growth without imposing undue priorities or market influence.

The strategic document titled “Bigger. Better. Texas. Statewide Economic Development Strategic Plan: 2025‒2029” emerged from extensive collaboration with local entities and industry leaders under the guidance of the Governor’s Texas Economic Development & Tourism Office. It outlines target industry sectors poised to drive regional growth and provides objectives to enhance global competitiveness.

The Governor’s office emphasizes that its role includes marketing Texas as a prime location for business and tourism on both national and international fronts. By partnering with various organizations across different levels, they aim to maintain Texas' status as an attractive place for living, working, and visiting.
