Governor Greg Abbott has extended his congratulations to the City of Bandera for achieving the status of a Tourism Friendly Texas Certified Community. This recognition, awarded by Travel Texas in its inaugural year, highlights Bandera's commitment to enhancing tourism as a strategy for economic growth, job creation, and attracting visitors from across the globe.

"Tourism is critical to both our local and state economies, supporting one in 11 jobs across Texas," stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized that travelers generate over $193.8 billion annually in economic impact and support 1.3 million jobs statewide. "I congratulate the City of Bandera, the Cowboy Capital of the World, and the Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau on earning this designation."

Travel Texas Director Tim Fennell remarked on Bandera's rich Western traditions: "Whether it’s riding trails at a working ranch or two-stepping in a classic honky-tonk, Bandera offers a genuine connection to the state’s heritage." He noted that this recognition reflects the town's dedication to preserving its legacy while inviting travelers to experience its appeal.

Senator Pete Flores expressed pride in Bandera's new designation: "This achievement highlights their commitment to showcasing the rich history, natural beauty, and vibrant culture that Bandera has to offer." Representative Wes Virdell shared his affection for Bandera: "As a motorcycle enthusiast...Bandera is one of my favorite places to ride."

Mayor Rebecca Gibson acknowledged tourism's vital role in Bandera's economy: "Our local economy depends greatly on collaboration...who nurture our tourist ecosystem." Deb Breen from the City Council added that tourism dollars significantly impact local businesses.

Carita Jundt from the Bandera County Convention & Visitors Bureau emphasized that "the cowboy spirit is more than history—it's a way of life," attracting global visitors with hometown friendliness.

The Tourism Friendly Texas Community program invites local governments or non-profit organizations leading tourism promotion efforts. The designation offers benefits such as strengthening relationships important for tourism development and educating leaders about tourism's significance.
