Steven Marquize Simon, aged 28, has been arrested by the University of Houston Police Department (UHPD) and charged with felony robbery related to a scooter theft on February 4 at the Metro platform near the Welcome Center Garage. Simon was also linked to another incident on February 5 at the same location and has received additional charges for this second robbery. He remains in custody.

The UHPD is actively pursuing leads in an unresolved case involving a cell phone robbery at a campus bus stop last week. The department aims to provide an update soon.

Efforts continue in the pursuit of Eric Brown, who is charged in a recent sexual assault case. The University of Houston collaborates with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to apprehend Brown and ensure justice.

In response to these incidents, campus safety measures have been heightened. "UHPD has more than doubled the number of security personnel," and plans are underway to further expand this force. Enhanced security monitoring includes 24/7 patrols focusing on parking lots and high-traffic areas.

"We best serve and protect our communities by holding offenders accountable," reads a statement emphasizing ongoing investigations and improved coordination with local law enforcement agencies. The goal remains providing a safe environment for all community members.

Students, faculty, and staff are urged to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities to UHPD at (713) 743-3333.
