University of Houston enhances security after arrest related to campus assault

An individual matching the description of the assailant in a recent sexual assault incident has been taken into custody. The University of Houston Police Department (UHPD) arrested the suspect near the scene last night. Details about the suspect's identity remain undisclosed due to the ongoing nature of the criminal investigation.

In response to this incident, UHPD has implemented increased security measures on campus. Effective immediately, four officers have been assigned to conduct 24/7 patrols at the Welcome Center Garage. Additionally, the UH Executive Steering Committee on Safety and Security is convening to formulate a comprehensive safety plan that includes both immediate and long-term strategies.
