Governor Greg Abbott marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day by illuminating the Governor's Mansion in yellow. This gesture was made to honor the millions who lost their lives during the Holocaust.
"Today, we remember and pray for the millions of people who were killed during this atrocious period of history," stated Governor Abbott. He emphasized the ongoing struggles faced by Jewish communities: "It’s a solemn reminder of the intense oppression the Jewish people faced and continue to face."
The Governor highlighted his commitment to combating antisemitism and hate, stating, "Antisemitism and hate have no place in our state, in our country, or in the world." In addition to remembering those who perished, he reaffirmed Texas's support for Jewish communities and Israel: "Texas proudly stands with the Jewish people and with Israel today and every day."
Abbott's commemoration on January 27 aligns with global efforts to remember Holocaust victims and educate future generations about this dark chapter in history.
