U.S. Congressman Michael McCaul has expressed his support for President Trump's recent announcement of new artificial intelligence infrastructure investments in Texas. McCaul, who is the chairman emeritus of the House Foreign Affairs and Homeland Security Committees, released a statement emphasizing the importance of high-tech industries such as semiconductors and AI.
McCaul stated, "The future of warfare, economics, and daily life all depend on high-tech industries like semiconductors and artificial intelligence. That’s why I chair the AI Caucus and why I founded the Congressional High-Tech Caucus more than a decade ago — because our advancements in these fields will determine whether our nation leads or shrinks back on the world stage."
He also expressed enthusiasm about the initiative, noting that Texas is already a center for high-tech development. "I’m thrilled to see President Trump leveraging the power of American innovation and private sector dollars to supercharge our AI industry, with the first project starting in Texas," McCaul said. He added that this move could help position the United States as an AI leader globally while enhancing national security.
