The University of Houston's Fall 2024 Commencement will celebrate the achievements of more than 3,800 graduates from nine colleges. These ceremonies, scheduled for December 13 and 14, will highlight the diverse backgrounds and stories of the students.

One standout graduate is Summer Dalgamouni, who earned her Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering while raising young twins. Despite challenges, she persevered with support from her husband Muhammed and a strong commitment to her children's future. Her research led to a pending patent for a sensor monitoring chlorine levels in water.

Sisters Kristen and Emily Kiang are graduating together from UH's nursing program. Their shared journey through education has been supported by family and friends, with both entering the Texas Medical Center as nurses after graduation.

Veteran Miguel Patino found his place at UH's Hobby School of Public Affairs after leaving the military. He is earning dual master's degrees in economics and public policy while preparing for flight school to become a pilot.

First-generation student Lori Garcia welcomed a baby girl just before completing her degree in teaching and learning. Supported by family and faculty, she plans to pursue teaching positions post-graduation.

The Wayne Duddlesten Foundation will receive the President’s Medallion during the C.T. Bauer College of Business ceremony for its long-standing support of UH programs. The foundation has made significant contributions to scholarships and entrepreneurship training at the university.

All commencement events will be livestreamed for global access to celebrate these accomplishments alongside graduates' families and friends.
