Brian Babin named chairman of House Science Committee

U.S. Congressman Brian Babin has been appointed as the Chairman of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee for the 119th Congress. The Republican Steering Committee made this selection, and Babin expressed his gratitude in a statement.

“It’s an incredible honor to be chosen to serve as the next House Science, Space, and Technology Committee Chairman,” said Babin. He emphasized the significance of this role given the current advancements in science, space, and technology sectors and highlighted concerns about international competition. "Between our nation’s booming science, space, and tech sectors and the growing threat posed by adversaries like Communist China, there has never been a more important time for this committee," he stated.

Babin also outlined his vision for the committee's future work. “The SST Committee has a unique opportunity to chart a course that will produce a generational impact," he remarked. He stressed the importance of minimizing bureaucratic obstacles to allow industries to innovate swiftly. “We must ensure our nation is not tethered to Earth by red tape – industry should operate at the rapid speed of innovation rather than the sluggish pace of bureaucracy," Babin added.

Looking ahead to his tenure as chairman, Babin expressed enthusiasm about continuing America's leadership in space exploration and scientific discovery. "Under my chairmanship, our committee will continue America’s legacy of shepherding the human race to new celestial heights and leading the world in new discoveries," he concluded.
