Governor Greg Abbott and the incoming U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan expressed gratitude to Texas National Guard soldiers, Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers, and other service members stationed along the border during Thanksgiving for Operation Lone Star in Eagle Pass and Edinburg.

"You are essential to keep Texas sovereign, secure, and safe," stated Governor Abbott. He praised the efforts of the Texas National Guard and DPS in maintaining law and order. "This mission is critical to our future," he added, expressing pride in their work.

Incoming U.S. Border Czar Homan emphasized the importance of border security for national security. "There is unprecedented success in Texas," he said. "What you have done has not only protected Texas and the citizens of Texas, you are protecting this nation."

The event also featured National Border Patrol Council President Paul Perez, Adjutant General of Texas Major General Thomas Suelzer, DPS Director Steve McCraw, and Texas Border Czar Mike Banks.

NBPC President Perez acknowledged the service members' role in protecting the country from various threats. "Everything you have done as troopers and guardsmen has saved lives," he said.

General Suelzer expressed his appreciation for their dedication to securing the border: "Your commitment... reflects the highest ideals of the Texas National Guard."

Director McCraw noted their sacrifices: “Texas – and America – is safer in part because of...the Texas Department of Public Safety." He was proud to thank them alongside Governor Abbott.

Texas Border Czar Banks highlighted the rewarding nature of such events: "Days like today are some of the most rewarding... bringing a piece of home to...the Texas Military Department."

After serving meals, Governor Abbott and Homan received an intelligence briefing on border efforts from General Suelzer, Director McCraw, and Banks. They later took an aerial tour over Operation Lone Star assets near Eagle Pass.
