HISD and its community partners are collaborating to provide support for families during the holiday break. All HISD schools and offices will be closed from Monday, November 25, through Friday, November 29.

The Sunrise Centers of HISD will also follow the district schedule and remain closed during this period. However, resources are available for families in need. On Friday, November 22, Second Servings and immunizations (flu shots for adults and children) will be offered at the West Orem Family YMCA from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

The Star of Hope intake department will operate from Monday to Wednesday between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m., but it will be closed on Thursday and Friday.

Families looking for activities to keep children engaged can follow HISD’s Family and Community Engagement department on social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.

In addition to these efforts, Houston-area events include a collaboration between the Houston Texans and Kroger to distribute 1,000 meals on Tuesday, November 26, at NRG Stadium Kroger Gate starting at 10 a.m.

The City Wide Club's annual Super Feast is set for Thursday, November 28. It offers “Grab ‘N Go” or “Sit ‘N Sup” options at the George R. Brown Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., featuring hot turkey dinners, grocery baskets, clothing, toys, and more.

Further events, distributions, and giveaways will be announced as they approach.
