Roll Call

A regular meeting of the Houston City Council was held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 15, 2024, Mayor Pro Tem Martha Castex-Tatum presiding with Council Members Amy Peck, Tarsha Jackson, Mary Nan Huffman, Mario Castillo, Joaquin Martinez, Julian Ramirez, Willie Davis, Twila Carter, Leticia Plummer and Sallie Alcorn, Randy Zamora, Legal Department, and Marta Crinejo, Agenda Director, present. Mayor John Whitmire, Council Members Abbie Kamin, Carolyn Evans-Shabazz, Fred Flickinger and Tiffany D. Thomas absent on personal business. At 1:35 p.m., Mayor Pro Tem Castex-Tatum called the meeting to order and recognized Council Member Martinez for the first proclamation.

Proclamations:

Council Member Martinez presented a proclamation recognizing the Mariachi Festival honoring of its 5th year. Accepting the proclamation were Executive Director & Producer of Events, Ben Mendez, Director of the Mariachi Studies for the University of Houston, Jose Longoria, and a number of board members and staff.

Council Member Carter presented a proclamation to Terri Harris recognizing the transformation and triumph of her life journey. Accepting the proclamation was Terri Harris.

Council Member Castillo presented a proclamation to the University of Houston’s Academic Achievers Program honoring their 30th Anniversary. Accepting the proclamation were members of the University of Houston’s Academic Achievers Program.

Invocation:

Mayor Pro Tem Castex-Tatum recognized Council Member Peck for the invocation. Council Member Peck gave the Invocation after which she led the Pledge of Allegiance.
