Kamalpreet Kaur, a recent graduate from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, is currently serving as the commercial leader for low carbon solutions, CCUS, and hydrogen at NOV Inc. The company provides technology-driven solutions to support the global energy industry. In her role, Kaur manages strategic business development in the low carbon sector, monitors technological advancements, and creates new initiatives. Additionally, she contributes to the UH Energy Coalition’s advisory board to promote discussions on energy among students, alumni, and industry professionals.

Reflecting on her career path, Kaur recalls her early interest in business leaders which led her to pursue a dual major in management information systems and marketing at UH's C.T. Bauer College of Business. "I was more focused on data and the impact it has on our decisions and strategy as well as marketing," she says. "Energy was an industry that I had initially never really considered."

Her involvement with the UH Energy Coalition played a significant role in shaping her career direction. As part of this large student organization focused on energy topics, Kaur attended seminars and events where she met industry experts and received mentorship from both university faculty and professionals in the field.

Kaur believes that growing up in a technologically advanced generation that values environmental stewardship has influenced her passion for work in energy transition. Her experiences during events like the COVID-19 pandemic and Texas grid failure have reinforced this commitment. “There is a sense of social responsibility and purpose that the energy transition brings,” she states.

To current UH students seeking opportunities, Kaur advises: “Opportunities are not going to come to you. You must go after them.”

Kamalpreet Kaur also hosts a podcast titled “Wired In: The New Age of Connectivity.” In discussing her views on the oil and gas industry, she notes: “I always thought oil and gas was pretty much all engineer-focused until I realized that, like any industry, it has multiple aspects to it. The key is to find your place in it so you can do work and have a positive impact on the world.”
