The Brays Oaks Management District Public Safety Committee held a meeting via Zoom video conference on September 04, 2024, at 11:30 am.

District Board and Committee members present: Starla Turnbo, Ralph Rieger, Steve Moore, Sheri Cortez, Cindy Chapman, Sylvia Rivas, Jodi Hamilton

Staff members present: Josh Hawes, Cosme Garcia, Natali Hurtado, Andrea Duhon Public safety present: Cmdr. Rubin, Lt. Manfre, Lt. Li – HPD, Sgt. Jose Juarez – HPD, Mike Laster – HCAO, Officer Rivera – HPD, Officer J. Rivera – HPD, Officer Michael – HPD, Cpt. Beau Moreno – HFD, Officer OJ Thibeaux

Public present: Brenda Jackson, Stephen Polnaszek, Tina DeFiore – HAA, Doug Phillips, Barbara Hite – District K, Cynthia Demery, Michael Gallo, Tabitha Israel – Upstanding Enterprises

Executive Director Josh Hawes called the meeting to order at 11:32 AM, and the committee meeting adjourned at 12:28 PM.

4. Receive RCR Report

a. Ms. DeFiore gave an update on changes to RCR report. Casa Azul townhomes has changed management companies to Richmark Properties. Westbury Reserve has dropped HAA membership.

5. Report from HPD (S. Gessner & Southwest) for the month of August.

a. Southwest

i. Lt. Manfre reported District 15 crime stats. A detailed report is available in the committee packet.

b. S. Gessner

i. Cmdr. Rubin reported District 17 crime stats. A detailed report is available in the committee packet.

c. Bike & DRT

i. Sgt. Juarez provided the DRT report of activities.

6. Receive report on HPD Overtime Program

a. No update.

7. Receive report from Harris County Attorney’s Office

a. Mr. Laster updated the committee regarding ongoing Chapter 125 cases and investigations including the Friendly Convenience Store. He advised that the ILA between the County and BOMD should be presented to Harris County Commissioners Court at their next meeting in September.

8. Update from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office

i. Ms. Cortez gave an update on the latest HCDA PSA and events, including the gun safe distribution program.

a. June Graffiti & Light Outage Report

1. Executive Director Hawes reviewed the report with the committee.

1. Executive Director Hawes reviewed the report with the committee.

b. National Night Out

i. Executive Director Hawes reviewed an estimate for DJ services. Director Moore requested a second estimate.

c. HPD Southwest Division Sponsorship Opportunity

i. Executive Director Hawes reviewed the sponsorship details.

COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATIONS:

• The committee recommended forwarding estimates for NNO DJ services to the board for consideration.

• The committee recommended forwarding HPD Southwest Division Sponsorship Opportunity to the board for consideration
