The HISD Teacher Recruitment and Selection Team will host a 2024-2025 Campus Hiring Event on Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Delmar Fieldhouse, located at 2020 Mangum Road.
K-12 educators are invited to learn about Team HISD and the student-centered work underway. Key compensation highlights include:
- Non-NES starting teacher salary: $64,000
- NES elementary starting teacher salary: $75,435
- NES middle school starting teacher salary: $80,059
- NES high school starting teacher salary: $82,816
- Special Education, Non-NES starting teacher salary: $80,000
- Special Education, NES starting teacher salary: $86,000
- Bilingual teacher stipend: $5,000
By the 2025-2026 school year, HISD plans for the average teacher salary to be $75,000.
The event will feature both NES and non-NES campuses and is open to various positions including teachers (including Art of Thinking), assistant principals, counselors, librarians/media specialists, nurses, office support staff, teacher assistants, teacher apprentices, and learning coaches.
External applicants are required to submit an online application and complete the SSN number second step prior to arriving. Failure to do so may delay or prohibit a school from extending an offer. Applications can be completed online at www.houstonisd.org/careers. Additionally, applicants should have a digital copy of their resume and service records ready to share with hiring managers and Human Resources staff.
Internal HISD applicants should note that the HISD Transfer Period closed on April 26, 2024. Current district employees in Chapter 21 contract positions (e.g., teachers, counselors, librarians) are not eligible to attend this event. Further details are available via MyHISD.
Registered candidates will receive two email communications the day before the event after 3 p.m.: one containing a QR code needed for admittance and another with final event logistics including check-in times, registered campuses, and current vacancies.
