A.2 509 COLUMBIA ST., HOUSTON HEIGHTS SOUTH – APPROVAL WITH CONDITIONS

Staff recommendation: Approve with conditions; Inset garage apartment 2-1/2” on the south side to meet the Houston Heights Design Guidelines minimum side setback of 3’ and remove proposed eaves on North and South elevation.

Commission action: Approval with Conditions: approved as submitted and that gutters be installed on all four eaves. Applicant does not need to inset garage apartment 2.5”.

Staff recommendation: Denial and issuance of a COR with condition that the ridge height of the roof connecting the original house with the addition be lowered under the sofit of the addition; brick skirting be vented and final design to be approved by staff.

Commission action: Denied the COA per staff recommendation with the additional condition to not allow the brick skirting; issuance of COR on the ridge height.

A.10 617 SILVER ST., OLD SIXTH WARD – APPROVAL

Staff recommendation: Approve.

Commission action: Approved per staff recommendation, with the condition of the windows be a one over one pattern.

B. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – None

C. COMMENTS FROM THE HAHC – Yap asked that preliminary staff recommendations match final agenda.

D. HISTORIC PRESERVATION OFFICER’S REPORT – Roman McAllen addressed staff’s recommendations on items in question from Commissioners; HAHC CAMP training; on annual calendar, submission timing was corrected to 5 PM instead of 12 noon. Norhill Design District guidelines are still moving forward.

E. ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business brought before the Commission, Chair David Bucek adjourned the meeting at 4:48 PM.
