Sysco Corporation announced that its colleagues dedicated close to 17,000 hours in November during the inaugural global Purpose month. Engaging in more than 500 events sponsored by the company or volunteering independently, Sysco colleagues contributed their time across various locations, including the United States, Canada, Sri Lanka, the U.K., and Ireland.

Sysco colleagues engage in meal packing for hunger relief, assembling amenity kits, hosting blood drives, and crafting cards for military care packages in over 125 Sysco locations. The locations demonstrating the highest engagement and volunteer hours per colleague will be awarded a donation prize, which they can contribute to a charity focused on addressing hunger, of their choosing, according to a press release by Sysco corporation.

“I’m so proud of what the Sysco team has achieved together; there’s no better way to celebrate International Volunteer Day than to show the power of collective effort to make a big difference,” said Neil Russell, Sysco’s Chief Administrative Officer, according to a press release by Sysco Corporation. “This is an important time of year for food banks and other organizations as they gear up to support our community this holiday season, and together, we contributed significantly to Sysco’s Global Good Goal of donating $500 million worth of good by 2025.”

Additionally, the Sysco FY2023 Sustainability Report reveals global initiatives such as in Sri Lanka, Sysco LABS colleagues completed the ninth phase of their "Share a Meal. Share a Moment." initiative, which has distributed essential ration hampers to underprivileged families and impacted over 40,000 lives since December 2020. In North Texas, a sales team volunteered with Feed My Starving Children, packing nearly 14,700 MannaPack® meals to address malnutrition issues and provide sustenance for approximately 40 children for a year.
