Abbott on upcoming Governor’s Small Business Summit in Houston: 'Texas offers more of these growth opportunities than any other state'

Gov. Greg Abbott has announced that Houston will host the 2023 Governor’s Small Business Summit, a special event celebrating women business owners and entrepreneurs. The summit is part of an ongoing initiative by the Office of the Texas Governor to equip small business owners and burgeoning entrepreneurs with vital resources and information for initiating their businesses.

Governor Abbott highlighted the significance of such events in a Dec. 1 press release issued by his office, saying, "Women business owners, whether they want to start a new business or expand an existing enterprise, benefit from the same opportunities as all entrepreneurs: more access to capital, fewer barriers to entry, and greater freedom to grow." The Republican Governor continued, "Texas offers more of these growth opportunities than any other state." He went on to point out that this robust entrepreneurial environment is what has attracted over 1.25 million women business owners to Texas, making Houston a national leader in small business job growth.

The press release disclosed that the summit is being jointly hosted by several organizations - the Governor's Commission for Women, the Greater Houston Women’s Chamber of Commerce and the Texas Workforce Commission. Expressing his commitment to collaborating with small businesses throughout Texas, Abbott stated: "We will continue to partner with all of our small business owners across the state to ensure they have the knowledge and tools needed to succeed as we build an even brighter Texas of tomorrow."

The upcoming event is scheduled for Dec. 7 at Bayou City Event Center located at 9401 Knight Rd., between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., according to the press release. For a $20 registration fee, participants gain access to all sessions, resource providers, lunch and complimentary headshots.
