The Thanksgiving holiday travel period is underway, and Houston Airports System (HAS) anticipates 2.4 million passengers to fly in and out of the Bayou City this year. Per HAS, about 540,000 travelers will make their was through William P. Hobby Airport (HOU) while George Bush International Airport is forecasted to handle nearly two million passengers during the 15-day window.

HAS added that, while the day before Thanksgiving Day is usually the busiest travel day, airline seat capacity shows that this year, travelers are more open to leaving during the Thanksgiving holiday break. Both IAH and HOU will welcome over 200,000 passengers to their respective facilities on Nov. 17.

HAS urges the traveling public to reserve parking online at least 12 hours ahead of their arrival at the airport. An increase in traffic on Houston-area roads can impact travel times at the airport.

Construction at IAH is still in progress. HAS advised that semi-trucks will spend the days leading up to Turkey Day delivering multi-ton pieces of steel trusses for the new international terminal.
