Houston Firefighters Relief and Retirement Fund Memorial Committee met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

A meeting of the Memorial Committee of the Houston Firefighters’ Relief and Retirement Fund convened at the Fund offices at 4225 Interwood North Parkway, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 9:55 a.m. 

Committee members present were David O. Lantrip (Committee Chair), Stephen R. Whitehead, and Lisa R. Slagle. Also present were Trustees Brett R. Besselman, Gerard L. Daniels, Pete Ng, Albertino Mays and staff members Timothy Schauer (Executive Director), Ajit Singh (Chief Investment Officer), Claudia McInnis (Director of Finance and Administration), Dalia De La Cruz (Director of Member Services), Andrea Sharayha (Director of Human Resources), John D. Moore II (Director of Technology and Building Services), and Adam Smith (General Counsel). 

The Committee Chair called the meeting to order at 9:55 a.m. and invited comments from the public. No comments were received. 

The Committee Chair provided an update on the installation of the benches noting that nineteen (19) benches have been installed in the Memorial Garden. There are three (3) benches waiting to be installed leaving eight (8) benches available for sale after approval of today’s one (1) bench inscription application. 

The Committee reviewed the inscription and after some discussion, there was a motion by Stephen R. Whitehead, seconded by Lisa R. Slagle, to approve the bench inscription, as presented. The motion carried. 

The meeting adjourned at 9:58 a.m., on a motion by Lisa R. Slagle, seconded by Stephen R. Whitehead. The motion carried.
