The city of Clear Lake Shores, located in northern Galveston County, has been designated as a Music Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Music Office (TMO), according to an announcement by the Office of the Texas Governor. Clear Lake Shores is situated 31 miles southeast of Downtown Houston.
Governor Greg Abbott congratulated Clear Lake Shores on earning this prestigious designation, stating, "Music is key to the Texas brand and is deeply rooted in the cultural traditions of our great state."
Clear Lake Shores completed a multi-step certification process to earn the Music Friendly Texas Certified Community designation. As part of this certification, the city will focus on cultivating its local music scene, with a goal of promoting job creation and economic growth.
Mayor Randy Chronister expressed his excitement over the designation, emphasizing that live music is an integral part of Clear Lake Shores' identity. The city has a strong tradition of incorporating live music into various events and gatherings, such as summer concert series, holiday celebrations, and community gatherings.
Clear Lake Shores is the first city in Bay Area Houston to receive TMO accreditation, according to Jonny Boultinghouse, President of the Clear Lake Shores Economic Development Corporation (EDC). The Music Friendly Texas Community Certification Ceremony for Clear Lake Shores will be held at Okies Yardhouse on October 21 at 5 p.m.
