The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has arrested and charged David Scott, an executive with ExxonMobil, with sexual assault. The arrest was made on October 5th after deputies responded to a call at a LaQuinta Inn in Magnolia, Texas, where a female reported being sexually assaulted by a male in one of the rooms.
The MCSO has stated that this is an active investigation and no further details are available at this time. In a Facebook post on October 9th, the Houston-area law enforcement agency said, "This is still an active investigation and there are no further details available for release at this time."
Authorities have apprehended the 49-year-old Scott, who is a resident of Spring, Texas. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and has since posted a $30,000 bond, according to records.
ExxonMobil has released a statement regarding the allegations against Scott. The company stated that its employees, officers, and directors are expected to conduct themselves with the highest standards of integrity and code of conduct. While the company cannot comment on a personal matter, it confirmed that Scott will not continue his work responsibilities as the investigation proceeds.
Reuters reported that Scott, in his position as an executive at ExxonMobil, oversees all of the company's shale oil and gas production business. He was also involved in negotiations to merge with rival Pioneer Natural Resources at the time of the incident.
The MCSO continues to investigate the sexual assault allegations against David Scott, and further details will be released as the investigation progresses.
