Local Houston Ovarian Cancer Survivor Gives back to Judy’s Mission

Through Amica Mutual Insurance Company's Employee Community Involvement Program, ovarian cancer survivor, Blanca Svatek, presented a check to Judy's Mission on Sept. 26. This act of generosity was in recognition of her volunteer work with the Survivors Teaching Students (STS) program.

Amica Mutual Insurance Company encourages its employees to engage in charitable activities through their Employee Community Involvement Program. This program provides grants to organizations actively supported by employees and their spouses, allowing them to give back to their communities.

Blanca Svatek, an Amica employee and ovarian cancer survivor, utilized this program to support Judy's Mission Ovarian Cancer Foundation. After her own battle with stage 3C ovarian cancer, Blanca shares her story to educate medical professionals and students. In 2022, she virtually presented her story multiple times. Blanca is also a member of the Judy's Mission board.

In honor of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in September, Blanca presented a check from Amica to Judy's Mission. This marked the fifth grant from the company in her name. The funds will go towards supporting the foundation's mission of raising awareness about ovarian cancer, providing support to those diagnosed, and funding research for effective screening and treatment.

Judy's Mission Ovarian Cancer Foundation was created in memory of Judith L. Robinson, a NASA scientist who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 57. The foundation focuses on raising awareness about ovarian cancer, supporting those diagnosed, and funding research for improved screening and treatment methods.

Amica Mutual Insurance is the longest-standing mutual insurer of automobiles in the U.S. Along with offering various insurance products, the company actively supports numerous charitable organizations that contribute to community growth and stability.

Blanca Svatek's dedication to raising awareness about ovarian cancer and supporting those affected by it is commendable. Her volunteer work with the Survivors Teaching Students program and her contribution to Judy's Mission through Amica's Employee Community Involvement Program demonstrate her commitment to making a positive impact in the fight against ovarian cancer.
