Nextbase Dash Cams, a leading provider of dash cameras, has released an interactive crash map that highlights the most dangerous cities for motorists in the United States. The map, which utilizes data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), reveals that Texas, California, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are the states with the highest number of fatal crashes.

"Our goal at Nextbase continues to be leveraging technology and data in order to help keep drivers safer on the roads," said Bryn Booker, the company's head of road safety. "Through data analysis and visualization, the Nextbase Interactive Crash Map is a powerful tool to make the NHTSA data more accessible, educating American drivers and, we hope, inspiring them to place greater focus and effort on safe driving."

Among these states, Texas stands out as having the highest number of fatal vehicular accidents. In 2021 alone, Texas accounted for 4,068 out of 39,500 fatal crashes nationwide. Local law enforcement in Texas responded to an average of 330 fatal crashes per month. Within the state, Houston emerged as the most dangerous city for drivers, with 324 fatal crashes recorded, averaging a staggering 12 per day and 79 per week. Los Angeles closely followed with 315 fatal crashes.

The statistics are alarming, and efforts to address road safety in Texas have been ongoing for years. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) launched the #EndTheStreakTX campaign to raise awareness about the state's long streak of traffic deaths. According to TxDOT, the last day without any reported road fatalities in Texas was on Nov. 7, 2000.

Nextbase's interactive crash map serves as a valuable resource for drivers, allowing them to visualize the data and understand the risks associated with certain areas. By making this information easily accessible, the hope is that drivers will prioritize safe driving practices and reduce the number of fatal crashes on the roads.
