Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez announced on X on Aug. 17 that Terran Green, the man accused of shooting sheriff’s deputy Joseph Anderson during a traffic stop earlier this week, has been apprehended and is facing three counts of attempted capital murder.
“Terran Green has been taken into custody without incident,” Gonzalez posted. “Incredible work by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Unit and our negotiators. Appreciate the assist by Houston Police SWAT and all our public safety partners. Well done!”
Houston FOX affiliate KRIV Channel 26 reported that authorities arrested Green following a five-hour standoff at a residence in the 11500 block of Silhouette Ridge near Summer Creek High School.
Citing the U.S. Marshals Office, the station reported that members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force attempted to apprehend Green at the house. Shots were allegedly fired, KRIV reported.
A neighborhood resident told Houston ABC affiliate KTRK Channel 13 a U.S. Marshal knocked on his back door and ordered him and his family to leave.
Another resident said she couldn’t get inside the neighborhood at the time of the standoff, adding her daughter was home alone, KTRK reports.
A veteran who lives in the neighborhood told the station the area was akin to a combat zone.
While Green was on the run, Gov. Greg Abbott issued a $20,000 award for information in relation to the shooting.
"Texas is first and foremost a law-and-order state, and the perpetrators of this despicable crime must know that justice is awaiting them," Abbott, a Republican, said in a press release issued by the Office of the Texas Governor. "Our brave men and women of law enforcement risk their lives to protect their fellow Texans each day they put on the badge in service to our communities, and they deserve to know that they have the full support of the State of Texas … Our prayers remain with the sheriff's deputy and his loved ones."
