The Brays Oaks Management District Beautification and Urban Design Committee held a meeting via Zoom video conference on June 08, 2023, at 1:30 PM.

District Board and Committee members present: Cindy Chapman, Ralph Rieger, Marsha Fisk Staff members present: Xavier Herrera, Cosme Garcia

Public present: Christian Chavez – SMC Logistics, Evan Rodriguez – SMC Logistics, Stephen Polnaszek, Aimee Turney – Office of Texas Rep. Gene Wu, Brenda Jackson, Sylvester Reeder III – Houston One Voice, Naomi Ostfeld, Marcy Williams, Jeanie Spriggs, Perdita “DiDi” Chavis, Barbara Hite, Amy Cummins, Bill Burhans - WWGC

Executive Director Xavier Herrera called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM, and the committee meeting adjourned at 2:03 PM.

THE COMMITTEE CONSIDERED THE FOLLOWING:

2. Public Comment

a. Ms. Chavis advised that VMPT Castex-Tatum along with Becky Edmondson and Director Chapman met with representatives from Solugen, Inc. The company intends to make an investment in their area including a cleanup campaign.

3. Minutes of 05/06/23 B&UD Committee Meeting

a. Committee meeting minutes were submitted for reference and review.

4. Receive a report on landscaping and porter services from Price Wagener and SMC Logistics for the month of March, and proposals for recommendation to BOMD Board for consideration. 

a. Landscaping - Price Wagener

i. Executive Director Xavier Herrera presented the report for Price Wagener for the month of May. Full report available in committee packet. Additionally, a proposal to remove and replace a backflow preventer which will be disturbed by planned construction was presented to the committee.

b. Porter Services - SMC Logistics

i. Mr. Chavez presented the report for SMC Logistics for the month of May. Full report available in committee packet. Mr. Burhans alerted Mr. Chavez of several issues near WWGC. Additionally, report of graffiti was made.

5. Field Service Operator Report – May

a. Mr. Rodriguez presented the FSO report which is available in the committee packet.

6. Discussion, Updates and Recommendations

a. Parks & Facilities in BOMD

i. No updates.

b. Willow Waterhole Greenway Conservancy

i. Mr. Burhans advised that graffiti was reported and BOMD staff is working to expedite its removal. Additionally, part of a concrete trail had been vandalized and WWGC is in the process of repairing the issue.

• Consider Price Wagener proposal for removal and replacement of backflow preventer.
