The Sanders Hand, a nonprofit organization based in Houston, will host a grand opening for its Young Billionaire Club Thrift Shop from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 19. Hosted through the organization’s Young Billionaire Club program, CEO Sebastian Sanders hopes that this endeavor will help at-risk youth get financially educated.
"We are thrilled to share that our thrift shop will go beyond profit," Sanders said. "It’s about creating a positive impact on the lives of these young minds. We believe in the transformative power of education and the potential it holds to create a brighter future."
According to Fox29, Sanders started The Sanders Hand while attending The University of Texas at San Antonio to help kids develop work, life and leadership skills, especially to underprivileged children.
According to a press release by The Sanders Hand, The Sanders Hand was founded in 2017 and serves the communities of Houston, San Antonio and Oklahoma City. They’ve given over $20,000 in scholarships to students in their program and graduated over 70 students from leadership camps.
The Young Billionaire Thrift Shop will serve as on-the-ground training for Young Billionaire Club students, providing them with skills and experience in business. Additionally, customers will “unlock digital financial literacy lessons” every time they purchase something.
The Young Billionaire Thrift Shop is located at 12579 Richmond Dr., ST 600, Houston, Texas.
According to their website, The Sanders Hand serves over 5,000 at-risk youth by giving them free business and financial literacy training “with the intent to increase the minority income level while decreasing the poverty level for impoverished communities.” The Young Billionaire Club was started by the organization in 2021 and provides training such as resume building, interview tips, professional etiquette and financial literacy.
