The proprietor of a pizza restaurant in Katy claimed the recent burglary of his establishment was politically motivated.

Jeff Hajjar said in a report from Houston FOX affiliate KRIV that Fuzzy’s Pizza has hosted Republican aspirants for office, insinuating the visits could be why suspects targeted the eatery at 613 S. Mason Rd. near Cinco Ranch.

Hajjar told KRIV that the alleged burglars broke into Fuzzy’s on Thursday through a wall shared with a neighboring business.

He additionally asserted that it was three men in hoodies and masks who committed the break-in.

"It was very intricate how they got in," Hajjar said in the report. “They used a crowbar to pry open the back door for the next-door space, because it's vacant."

Per a report from Covering Katy News, the group purportedly made away with cash and a firearm.

The trio was believed to have vandalized the nearly 30-year-old pizzeria as well.

"When I first saw it, I was really disheartened," Hajjar said, according to KRIV.

Fuzzy’s served as a stop during the election campaigns of several GOP candidates, most prominently Gov. Greg Abbott’s successful push for a third term in the state’s highest office, leading Hajjar to believe the crime may have been out of revenge.

"I think they were trying to send a message," the owner said, KRIV reported. "They were unhappy with something we were doing. Part of me feels it's probably political."

Covering Katy News reported that the restaurant is investigating its workforce since, per Hajjar, the contents of and access to the property’s safe is unknown to outsiders.

Despite the incident which Hajjar said “left a bitter taste” in the mouths of community members, Fuzzy’s opened for business the next day.

"In the face of adversity, we have chosen to rise and continue serving our community, standing tall against this act of violation,” the owner told the station.
