With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Vertudes Garza Diaz (Houston, Texas), born in Yorktown, Texas, who passed away on May 13, 2023 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Thomas Garza and Maria Garza; her husband Paul L. Diaz Sr.; her siblings, Modesta Garza, Fidencio Garza and Ernesto Garza; and her close friends, Fidela Herrera and Eliza "Licha" Gonzalez.

She is survived by : her siblings, Evinia Garcia, Frank Garza, Louisa Garza and Ernestina "Tina" Cross; her children, Clarita "Terrie" Mendoza, Mercedes "Mercy" Garcia (Santos Jr.), Paul L. Diaz Jr., Rene E. Diaz Sr., Kinship, Marlene A. Diaz and Rocky S. Diaz; and her grandchildren, Leslie Manzano (Pete), Yvonne Thomas (Charles), Melissa Carrillo (Joe), Brianna Becerra (Carlos), Richard Vargas (Jennifer), Kristina Garcia, Michael Garcia, Desiree Diaz, Rene Diaz Jr., Matthew Diaz and Daisy Diaz.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24th 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Forest Park Lawndale Funeral Home (6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 25th 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Thursday, May 25th 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery (6900 Lawndale St, Houston, TX 77023).
