A new miniature golf venue is slated to open in Downtown Houston near the end of the month.
Chicago-based Puttshack said in a press release that its establishment at The Highlight at Houston Center at 1200 McKinney St. is the sixth to open in the U.S. and the first in Texas.
"Houston has become an increasingly popular spot amongst sports fans, young adults and young families,” Chris Rockwood, Puttshack’s chief operating officer (COO), said in the release. “As the world's first and only high-tech mini golf experience, Puttshack delivers world class entertainment. The dynamic environment and globally inspired food and beverage offerings are a perfect match for Houston's demographic."
Rockwood added that Puttshack has what it takes to serve as an actor tenant at the newly refreshed Houston Center, which is operated by Brookfield Properties.
Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that Space City joins the likes of Atlanta, Boston, Miami, St. Louis and Chicago as the only U.S. cities with a Puttshack franchise.
The lone international establishment is across the Atlantic Ocean in the United Kingdom (UK), KPRC reported.
According to the station, Puttshack was conceived by the creators of TopGolf and Flight Club five years ago.
The company said the Houston outpost, which will open its doors to the public on Wednesday, April 26, covers 26,000 square feet and boasts four nine-hole mini golf courses.
It’ll also feature two bars and a main dining area, with local DJs bringing the upscale atmosphere to life by playing energetic, up-tempo tunes.
"Puttshack is a new, innovative entertainment option for downtown Houston, which makes it a perfect fit for the reimagined Houston Center campus,” Travis Overall with Brookfield Properties said in the release.
Children are allowed at the venue until 8 p.m. daily.
After the Houston opening, Puttshack will focus on cutting the ribbon at future locations in Denver, Pittsburgh and Scottsdale.
