Houston-based environmental and industrial services company Space City Services (SCS) has announced the acquisition of Industrial Waste Solutions’ (IWS) bulk-rental and transportation services division, according to a press release.
SCS said the move boosts its fleet by nearly 200 employees.
Company president Robert Thomas anticipates the addition of the workers from IWS.
“This transaction gives us the resources to continue our reputation for operational excellence,” Thomas said in the release. “With a record number of projects along the Gulf Coast, we will persist in our rapid, yet strategic growth through acquisition and geographic expansion over the next several years to drive productivity for our customers.”
Per the release, aside from an increase in its workforce, the acquisition gives SCS more than 1,000 pieces of equipment as well as access and ownership to the Lucore Street terminal near Pasadena in an effort to increase its services to both companies’ current clientele and provide competitive rates to new and prospective ones.
According to SCS, the move involving IWS is the third acquisition it has made in a two-year period.
The first acquisition occurred in 2021 when the company absorbed Superior Waste Solutions, with the second having been that of TIBC less than eight months ago, the release said.
SCS has two terminals on the Texas Gulf Coast and another in Louisiana.
