A Waller County man stands accused of decapitating his spouse, Houston-based media outlets reported.

Authorities allege 21-year-old Jared Jams Dicus killed Anggy Diaz, who was also 21, at a residence in a rural part of the county, Waller County Sheriff Troy Guidry said, Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported.

KHOU reported that law enforcement was called to the home after Diaz’s body was discovered.

The couple reportedly lived behind the home of the suspect's parents, and it was his father who contacted authorities, the station reported.

According to the report, Dicus, who remained at the home until authorities arrived, later confused to the murder.

Guidry told Houston ABC affiliate KTRK that the suspect supposedly used a kitchen knife to kill the victim, who reportedly worked more than one job to help pay for her mother’s cancer treatment.

Per KTRK, Waller County Judge Carbett J. Duhon III revealed on Facebook that he married Diaz and Dicus last fall, describing the pair as “very nice.”

“As with many of you, I'm greatly saddened and shocked by the news of this tragic event and my prayers are with all of their families,” Duhon’s post read.

The county judge added that he removed his picture with the couple “out of respect for the families.”

Guidry described the discovery of Diaz’s remains as “a gruesome scene.”

"Both sides of these families will be altered by it,” the sheriff said, according to KTRK.
