Houston police were summoned to the home of U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in the city’s River Oaks neighborhood in response to an apparent “self-inflicted cutting call” on Tuesday, per Houston-based media outlets.

Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that the junior senator’s representatives said what purportedly occurred was a family matter.

The 51-year-old Cruz is a married father of two daughters.

Authorities told Houston FOX affiliate KRIV that “no criminal activity” was ascertained nor was there a “family violence issue” at the Cruz residence.

"This is a family matter, and thankfully their daughter is OK,” a spokesperson with the senator’s office said in a statement obtained by KRIV. “There were no serious injuries. The family requests that the media respect their daughter's privacy at this time.”

KTRK reported that an unidentified 14-year-old in the neighborhood was taken to the hospital for what authorities said was self-inflicted stab wounds on the arms.

ABC News reported that Houston fire personnel were also at the scene.

Cruz resides in the upscale neighborhood with spouse, Heidi, and their two daughters.

Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported that it’s unclear whether the senator will head back to Houston in light of the incident.

BNO News reported that the girl’s injuries aren’t life-threatening, and she’s expected to make a full recovery.

When Cruz participated in the Houston Astros’ World Series victory parade last month, he was the alleged target of a fan who launched a hard seltzer at him.

The lawmaker; however, didn’t sustain any injuries and the assailant in question was taken into police custody.
