The investigation into the disappearance of a 22-year-old ex-University of Houston (UH) student during a camping trip with friends in the Texas Hill Country continues, Houston-based media outlets reported.

Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that Aamir Ali purportedly went for a walk in Canyon Lake some 43 miles north of San Antonio but didn’t return.

Per KPRC, Ali’s last known whereabouts were Friday when he was seen going on the walk alone.

His friends told investigators that they discovered his clothing and personal items by the lake’s shore, the station reported.

“His phone, his headphones, his wallet, his clothing and his t-shirt, his pants and underwear were found by the lake,” Ali’s brother, Quasam, told KPRC. “He hasn’t been seen since then and we’ve been looking for him ever since.”

Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that deputies with the Comal County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) combed the camping area on foot and with drones to no avail.

As of press time, a water search for Ali was planned. Quasam Ali assisted with the search for his brother as did the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), according to KTRK.

KTRK reported that Ali’s last known enrollment at UH was in the spring 2021 semester as a senior marketing major.

The Ali family fears that he could be injured and are requesting more volunteers to help locate him, KPRC reported.

According to the station, anyone with information that could be beneficial to the investigation is urged to call CCSO at (830) 620-3400.
