He was predeceased by : his parents, Serveriano Rivera and Petra Rivera; his siblings, Tomasa Tabasco, Emma Castillo, Severiano and Jesus Rivera; his grandson Ramon Nicholas Rivera; and his son-in-law Ricardo Castillo.

He is survived by : his wife Rosinda Chavez; his sister Josefina Santillan; his children, Victo (Susanna Rivera), Norma (Winston Pereira), Dora Castillo and Gerardo Elidio (Catherine Rivera); his grandchildren, Leonard (Cherrity Rivera), Victor Elidio (Shelly Rivera), Vincent (Jessa Rivera), Gerardo (Laura Pereira), Michelle Pereira, Veronica (Jim Webb), Ricardo Castillo, Gregory Elidio and Vannessa Rivera; his great grandchildren, Emilio, Emmett Rivera, Pablo, Celeste Pereira, Ava and Emma Webb; and his caregivers, Marina and Aydee.

A mass was held on Friday, October 21st 2022 at 10:30 AM at the St Justin Martyr Catholic Church (13350 Ashford Point Dr, Houston, TX 77082).
