The NRP Group, a firm that specializes in multifamily housing, announced in a press release on Sept. 27 that it has tabbed Christopher O’Neill as its executive vice president of development in Texas.

According to the release, O’Neill will oversee NRP’s expansion into the Lone Star State and markets further west in his new position.

“We are thrilled to have Chris bring his expertise to our team and continue to follow the NRP mission to create outstanding rental communities for individuals and families, regardless of income,” NRP president of development Ken Outcalt said in the release. “He has an established track record of developing exceptional multifamily communities and we are confident he will accelerate the growth of our pipeline and lead our development team to new markets.”

O’Neill comes to NRP from Hines Interests Limited Partnership where he served as managing director, as well as the Houston-based global real estate investment and management services firm’s first project manager for the Southwest region’s multifamily platform, the release said.

According to the release, O’Neill crafted a resumé that includes over two decades of experience in market-rate multifamily development.

O’Neill said in the release that he’s “thrilled” to help NRP with its Texas expansion.

“NRP is a clear leader in market-rate apartment development and understands the importance of providing housing for populations with diverse incomes and needs,” he said. “I’m excited to continue this work to help these communities address some of the challenges they are facing. Further, I look forward to helping NRP and our investors expand our market-rate footprint throughout Texas and western markets. There’s a lot of opportunity out there, and NRP is well-positioned to capitalize on it.”

Per the release, O’Neill received his college education in Texas.

He first graduated with a bachelor’s degree in construction science from Texas A&M University (TAMU) and a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from the University of Houston (UH).

According to Houston Agent Magazine, O’Neill’s target areas for NRP are Houston, Dallas-Fort Worth and Austin and the states of Arizona and Colorado.
