The Houston woman behind Austin-based jewelry company Kendra Scott has released a memoir.

Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported that Scott has kicked off a tour to promote “Born to Shine,” and the city where she spent her formative years was the first stop.

The tome takes a look into how the Wisconsin-born Scott built her namesake business from the ground up and the things she learned in the process, KHOU reported.

Scott admitted to KHOU that she experienced a wide range emotions from excited to scared.

As to why she decided to open her tour in Houston, according to the station, it helped laid the foundation for who she is today.

"I came to Houston when I was 16 years old. I graduated from Klein High School, so this is part of my DNA, the city, the people here I love so much," the 48-year-old Scott said, KHOU reported. "It was my first introduction to Texas, where it became my forever home."

On the company's website, Scott, a mother of three, said she started the business when her eldest child was three months old.

KHOU reported that the popular jewelry retailer was born after Scott’s unsuccessful first foray into business, which the proprietress talks about in the book.

"I needed that experience to be able to build the successful company I have today," Scott said, the station reported. "So when we're going through those moments, it's really hard. But I promise on the other side of it, it's your bridge to get you to the next most amazing place you're headed."

Per Worthy Publishing, the tour will visit Nashville on Thursday; Brookfield, Wisconsin on Saturday; Kenosha, Wisconsin on Sunday; and Chicago on Sept. 27.

Earlier this year, Austin Journal reported, Scott designated the day after Mother's Day a corporate holiday.

Scott said in the company-issued press release at the time her business highly prioritizes families, the publication reported.

Scott has a workforce of more than 2,000 employees and over 115 standalone stores across the U.S. as of April 2022.

“Born to Shine” can be purchased at retailers such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million.
