Authorities responded to an alleged shooting at a school in Houston’s Greater Heights neighborhood on Tuesday, according to Houston-based media outlets’ reports.

Authorities were summoned to Heights High School at 413 E. 13th St. at approximately 1 p.m., Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported. The station reported that a large swath of officers were clearing the building.

The Houston Police Department (HPD) advised the public to avoid the area unless their presence is necessary.

“At this time there are no confirmed injuries,” the law enforcement agency said in a tweet

Parents have been urged by authorities to meet at a designated staging area at 306 E. 15th St.

HPD described the incident as unconfirmed, Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

According to KTRK, the police’s information; however, matches that from Harris County Precinct 1 Constable Alan Rosen.

Authorities haven’t issued a description of the alleged shooter as of press time.

The incident took place just a shade over three weeks after classes commenced for the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and more than three months following the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde that claimed the lives of 19 students and two teachers.

Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported last month that the police department of Texas’ largest ISD partnered with HPD and nonprofit organization Ministers Against Crime to create Project Safe Start, an initiative to boost school safety.
