NAACP award winner John D. Tucker, aka "Dr. Teeth," is presenting his new French comedy short titled, “Pas Honteux”, on Monday, Aug. 29, at a VIP event.

"Dr. Teeth" drew his inspiration from French New Wave film directors Jean-Luc Godard and Francois Truffaut. The film combines both new wave and modern hip hop styles.

The film centers around a young African-American man who wakes up one day able to speak French.

"John D. Tucker, aka 'Dr. Teeth', has found tremendous success in the world of music video directing, producing and in helping develop a strong hip hop music scene here in Houston, Texas," Lemon Lime Light Media said on Thursday, Aug. 25. "Now he’s ready to bring his talent and experience to narrative filmmaking with the Houston debut of his comedy short 'Pas Honteux'.”

The film is being exhibited at Bar 5105 at a French-themed private VIP event where Dr. Teeth and writer Marcus Guillory will both be in attendance. The event is hosted by Courvoisier. Dr. Teeth has had triumphs in the music video field but he plans to move into narrative filmmaking with “Pas Honteux” as the kickstart for his career transition.

According to IMDB, Dr. Teeth is “highly sought out by some of the top artists and record labels for his gift of creating lasting visual imagery.” Dr. Teeth won the NAACP Image Award working as a producer in the BET Network’s children’s television show, “Teen Summit”.

In addition, Dr. Teeth has been nominated for MTV’s Video Music Awards for his work in the music video, “Still Tippin’” by Mike Jones, BET’s Hip Hop Award for Director of the Year, BET’s Video of the Year for “Ice Cream Paint Job” by Dorrough and OZONE Magazine Awards for Director of the Year for his work with Lupe Fiasco’s hit song, “Hip Hop Saved My Life”. Dr. Teeth has collaborated with numerous well-known hip hop musicians, such as Pitbull, Lil’ Wayne, Notorious B.I.G., Ludacris and King's X.

The film aims to provide a rebirth to both the French New Wave and modern hip hop styles of filmmaking. The French New Wave is a style of filmmaking characterized by nonlinear editing, long takes and ambiguous endings to films. Godard and Truffaut were at the beginning of this movement in the 1960s and 1970s.

“Pas Honteux” stars Travis LaBranch, Leon Lamar and Javicia Leslie.
