A private Catholic university in Houston has announced the resignation of one of its deans, Houston-based media outlets reported.

Dr. Mario Enzler is out as the dean of the Cameron School of Business at the University of St. Thomas (UST) as of Wednesday, Houston CBS affiliate KHOU and Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported.

According to KHOU, UST confirmed Enzler’s departure but didn’t specify the reason as to why he tendered his resignation on Friday, Aug. 12.

KHOU reported that Enzler faced allegations that he falsified information on his résumé.

His biography on UST’s website has since been scrubbed, the station additionally reported.

On a webpage promoting his self-written book, Enzler detailed his career in finance and the time he established a school in New Hampshire, per KHOU.

He joined UST two years ago.

Citing a local publication, Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that several faculty members at UST claim Enzler lied about the degrees he said to have earned, most notably a doctorate from an institution in Italy that purportedly doesn’t offer Ph.D. programs.

According to the station, the professors sensed red flags with his leadership style and decided to fact check his résumé.

A statement from UST spokesperson Sandra Soliz confirmed that the university accepted Enzler’s resignation letter, KTRK reported.

"He is moving on to the next chapter of his life," Soliz said in the statement.

An assistant professor of accounting said in the report that he’s worried about the hiring process and those in charge of it, making his true feelings about Enzler known.

"Really, the guy is [a] charlatan, he's a fraudster and he's a con artist," Ramon Fernandez said, according to KTRK.
