A Harris County Precinct 5 sergeant has been relieved of duty in response to allegations that he abused children at a Little League Baseball game, Houston-based media outlets reported.

According to Houston ABC affiliate KTRK, the law enforcement officer coached youth baseball and was purportedly caught on camera mistreating the young players.

KTRK reported that the sergeant’s employer is investigating the incident, which took place during a tournament in west Houston earlier this month.

The station reported that the players were boys who are 9 years old or younger.

The sergeant was the skipper for the Scorpions Baseball club from Spring, per KTRK.

Houston FOX affiliate KRIV reported that the video went viral and received negative reactions throughout social media.

Another Little League coach, Victor Torres, told KRIV that the boys seen in the video “didn’t really understand” what was transpiring in front of them.

"They didn’t expect that to happen to them, especially from an adult," Torres said, per the station.

KRIV identified the coach in question as Kenneth Wendt, who is accused of harming players during the traditional post game high-five.

Houston CBS affiliate KHOU reported that Wendt has since lost his coaching job.

The father of one of the boys Wendt allegedly mistreated expressed disgust over the incident.

"He should be ashamed of himself for whatever he did," the unidentified man told KHOU, who didn’t reveal his real name for privacy and security reasons.

The Harris County Constable Precinct 5 Office said in a statement that information is being withheld until the Houston Police Department (HPD) completes the investigation.
